Sean Grant & The WolfGang – ‘I Am The Devil’

The opening track from debut EP ‘The Working Class’ (out June 2nd through The Shipping Forecast records), ‘I Am the Devil’ is a shuffled roots gem which perfectly captures the sound of Sean Grant and The WolfGang.

With folky, story telling writing based on the atmosphere and events of the early 20th century, this is certainly an act with a unique approach and one that is carried through the full EP. In the meantime though, listen to the little taster below.

Sea Stacks, ‘Glassy-Eyed’

We love a slow burning, atmospheric track and the new track ‘Glassy-Eyed’ from Sea Stacks – released yesterday – does not disappoint.

Full of weird and wonderful trips and turns, it’s a blend of orchestral folk and electronic effects that slowly builds into an effective, discordant crescendo before paring back and building again. The dynamic touch is brilliant.

The creation of London artist Davy Berryman, this is Sea Stacks’ third release, a treatise on love and loss ‘through the metaphor of drowning’. Melancholic but beautiful, it’s available from all good (and evil) download stores today.

Free download: JINNWOO ‘Solo Man’ Ft. Alasdair Roberts (Produced by Gerry Diver)

Mournful and spooky, the folk music of Jinnwoo is something of an acquired taste that doesn’t adhere to any particular rules we’re aware of. ‘Solo Man’, the debut single, is released on April 28th officially, but right now you can get it as a free download introduction to this most enigmatic of artists.

And if that floats your boat, you can keep up to date with all things Jinnwoo at these links:

Ivan Moult, ‘Most of All’

With a quiet beauty akin to Ben Howard, Ivan Moult has a knack with his raw vocal and acoustic guitar. With over two years since his last release, he is readying himself for his new album (as yet unnamed) with a double free-download/single release.

Comprising ‘I Know I’ll Never Be Born Again’ and ‘Most of All’ (listen below), this is proof that Moult hasn’t lost any of the immediacy that makes him stand out.

So there you go, perfect listening for a Sunday afternoon, and a free download to boot. Aren’t we good to you?

You can find Ivan Moult live at these dates:

25th April 2014 – Four Bars at Dempseys, Cardiff w/ Steady Hands
13th June 2014 – Unearthed Festival, Solva
28th June 2014 – Snail Deli, Rhiwbina
12th July 2014 – Wakestock Festival, Llyn Peninsula
